Visual Vernacular (VV) is a dynamic storytelling art form created by Deaf artists. It combines elements of mime, cinematic expression, and sign language rhythm (poetry) to visually narrate emotions, characters, and movement in space. VV transcends linguistic barriers and celebrates the rich visual imagination of the Deaf community — transforming gestures into poetry and theatrical in motion.

This introductory workshop invites participants — Deaf and hearing — to explore the foundations of Visual Vernacular through creative exercises in expression, rhythm, and space awareness. Participants will also learn to develop ISL ABC Stories, a unique poetic form where each sign begins with a letter of the alphabet, blending linguistic creativity with visual art.

The session will emphasize:
● Fundamentals of Visual Vernacular performance
● Use of facial expressions and body movement to build visual rhythm
● Creating and performing ISL ABC stories
● Collaborative practice and feedback

Please note this is closed workshop and is not open for registrations.
