Edible Issues
Join us for a screening of"The Mushroom Keepers," a Fungi Foundation production directed by Naveed Mulki. This evocative short film explores the intricate relationships between fungi, and the Khasi and Garo communities of Meghalaya, India. It is both a poignant reflection on cultural erosion and a call to action, embodying the Fungi Foundation's mission to steward research, education, and conservation of fungi while preserving the cosmovisions fostered by fungal wisdom.
Following the screening, a panel discussion will explore the intertwined paths of ethnomycology, traditional food practices of India, and climate resilience. Drawing on the local example of olmi, Goa’s prized Termitomyces mushrooms, the panel will explore the role of indigenous knowledge in adapting to environmental changes. This event offers a deeper look into the cultural and ecological importance of fungi and how ancestral wisdom can help us navigate an uncertain future.
