Resurgence of Memory: Oceanic Archives and the Portuguese Connection
curator
Foundation Initiative
The conversation around Resurgence of Memory will encompass the many tangible and intangible links of culture that exist within transoceanic history, particularly reflecting on Portuguese colonies and the movement between them. As visible through scholarly research and public archiving projects, postcolonial times seem to have strengthened the desire of people worldwide, who were once affected by the Portuguese empire, to study, evaluate and even revive socio-cultural connections. The discussion will engage with varied archives seen through the lens of contemporary research, retelling histories as means to envisage a future.
