Zakir Hussain Maquette
The exhibition explores Dayanita Singh’s early engagement with the book as a medium, centering on Zakir Hussain, her first handmade maquette from 1986. Featuring photographs of the renowned tabla virtuoso on stage and at home, alongside handwritten texts from interviews, the exhibition showcases enlarged pages from the facsimile edition. By preserving Singh’s original notes and design choices, the display highlights her intuitive approach to bookmaking and its influence on her later practice.
