The Asalato is a simple, ancient West-African percussion. Played with a unique style and body movement, the instrument instills focus, is portable, and a tool to make music and meet new people! Originally made from a dried gourd, the concept of two balls filled with pebbles, and a string connecting them, is supremely minimalist! But when played and performed, one can observe the nuances in this highly sophisticated shaker.

Join us to learn more about this instrument and craft the instrument yourself. After making and creating your own custom musical instrument, we will teach you how to play it and you even get to take your Asalato home with you!
